Today’s ‘on my own’ essentials: It had never really occurred to me how true it was before I actually ran into these words of an utterly great mind. Here’s my free style narration. Life generally tends to make us similar: The same stages we all have to go through to get into that successful kind of world defined by the society. The same various, but still limited passions, actions and fashion make us alike. Yet one thing keeps standing guard over who we really are: The time we spend on our own. It is who define how we take the minutes when nobody is around. This is what mostly made me me and made you you.

This photo, taken in a summer holiday, shows a sunset. And sunsets are something that I really like and also love to take photos of. A lot of people think that sunsets have a depressing mood. I think exactly the opposite: For me there are just a few things which can be so peaceful and give such a harmonic atmosphere, which can calm me dine after a busy day. And so I decided to post this photo under the task, because I think that it shows something of my attitude. Sunsets make me think positive and give me energy, because a day can’t be horrible, if it ends with something that is so beautiful like a sunset. And because it is so important for me, it is definitely something that makes me “Me”.

Liska – not only my name gives me an identity, but also everything I like or do, for example reading, sport, traveling, nature…In order to combine these two things, I tried to “write” my name with some objects that represent something important for me. But for me, it is impossible to show my identity with one picture. There are just too many aspects.

I captured my sister’s cat in a moment of reflection, and whilst the decisions he is pondering are not likely to be that meaningful, I identify myself with? him. At this stage of my life, the decisions that I make feel like the most important decisions of my life, and I constantly have to remind myself to take it one step at a time.

Right behind the house I grew up in, the flood lands of the Elbe River open up. As a child I have spent endless afternoons exploring the green meadows, mysterious groves and cool ponds. When I came back from exchange two years ago, I started running and rediscovered the beauty that lay just a stone’s throw away. For this picture I have returned to this place in order to express my love for nature and adventure, which to my mind is forever tied to this particular area I call home. It might sound mundane but to this day I am inspired with awe by the sight of the landscape. And to this day I remember how foolish and dire it was to ever overlook that.

It is hard to think of something which represents me. These days a lot of people have troubles with finding their identities and to be honest I am not quite sure myself. So I decided to take a photo of things that shaped me, that made the person I am today. They are also things that everybody knows I like so I think they truly represent me, my life philosophy, my passion and my hobbies: My family photo, the Bible, books, music. There is also a curtain in the right which represents my tendency to hide myself and to show only what I want people to see. I used a frame that compliments the colors and I used a contrast to clearly recognise the objects.

When I took this picture a few days ago I wanted that everyone who looks at this picture will find a connection between me and it. I wanted to capture all the things that describe me, everything I love, everything what is important to me: Success, family, friends, dance, music, life, history, arts. I think that this is what makes me Me.

I am characterised by people who surround me, those who I love and whose presence in my life creates harmony and peace. People motivate me to change and to become a better person. In this picture, which visualises my identity, I decided to go through old and new pictures and take a photo of them. I did that because I thought that pictures show my past ad my history, which made me the person I am today. Also in those pictures you can see the most important things in my life: My family, friends, classmates, various activities and others. These are the valuables that make me a happy person every day and form my personality.

My name is Lucian. This name origins from the Latin word LUX what means LIGHT. So Lucian is “the one who brings light”. My character could be also described as fire. If people are honest with me, I am doing my best to help them. But if they are trying to mess with me they can burn themselves.

For the first photo, which describes my identity, I’ve chosen a photo that captures me with my friends from our folk-dancing group. I started dancing only in January, but it immediately became an inseparable part of my life. Folk dancing is in my opinion one of the many beautiful traditions that we have in Slovakia, but unfortunately, not many young people are interested. Although a lot of people can still appreciate its beauty.

Archaeology is my favorite hobby. I have taken part in excavations since I was 3 years old. And I have a tradition to take part in them every summer. When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming an archaeologist. But I have decided that archaeology would be my favorite hobby

Aeromodelling has always been my passion, the same as my father. An aircraft is a graceful and majestic machine. It proves the human desire to dominate the air, the unlimited sky, to feel free. Building models and flying RC planes, which became really easy and cheap in the last years, are my favorite hobbies.

In this photo exercise I chose to use a book as something that makes me Me and that shows what is important for me. Both reading and writing have become a part of my daily life and I love it. The fact that I can escape from reality and all its problems, gives me such joy. Wandering into unknown worlds, discovering new places, meeting and talking with creatures, are all things that only a book can give you, and that is why I love them so. If it were not for books, my life would be so much less fun.

This is me: Happy, excited for the future and quite funny! I used the filter “Valencia”, because I like that it’s bright and shiny, right as my personality.

“THIS IS ME” This task was hard to do, but this was the best picture representing me. I love to travel and would love to visit so many places throughout the world, as the globe is representing. The bunch of books represents my eager to study and getting to know more. I’m interested in geography, history, science and more. I see myself as a hardworking person and that makes me successful as the history price I won represents.

I chose Boršč, because it contains many types of vegetables from countries in the Baltic Sea region. This soup also has many colors – e. g. red. It could symbolize the red blood of fallen soldiers. Some of them fought for peace of the world.

My family – huge part of my identity modifications: ‘Valencia’ filter 100%; warmness 100%. I used this picture from the 25th anniversary of my mom’s and dad’s marriage. My parents, my brothers and sisters and I went to an Italian restaurant. Not only the picture, but also the day I took is asymbol for a special part of my identity: My family. The history of my family and the circumstances within it had and has a big influence on me. In my family, I feel like a part of something and I can identify with it.
Lately it become really rare that all of us are together, so when we are, it is always special. The picture shows me in front of my family – my family is influencing me from the background. I used the ‘Valencia’ filter and raised the warmness to create a warm atmosphere; symbolic for the way my family influences my identity.
